A POWERFUL DECISION-MAKING TOOL IN THE DESIGN OF SUSTAINABLE BUILDINGS


Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a methodology for quantifying and analysing the environmental impacts associated with all life cycle stages of a building and its constituent materials, from raw material extraction through to end of life.

LCA modelling can be a powerful decision making tool in the design process of a sustainable building and allows analysis and comparison of the embodied carbon impacts of different material and design options.

LCA analysis is required under BREEAM 2018 and the New London Plan requirements set out by the GLA, as well as whole life carbon analysis for initiatives such as LETI and the UKGBC zero carbon framework.

We use One Click LCA and eTool to carry out LCA modelling, which are BREEAM and GLA compliant lifecycle assessment tools.


Early engagement

Integration of LCA analysis into the design process is becoming increasingly important in the industry and early engagement is key. We are trained and experienced in providing analysis of materials and can offer it as an addition to our BREEAM or planning services or on a stand-alone basis.
