This new building provides pecialist music classrooms, music practice rooms, a music performance space for concerts and new changing rooms for the existing swimming pool.
The site is congested and the existing on-site M&E services are complex – in order to facilitate the project we had to demolish the existing pool plantroom and re-locating all the plant for the existing swimming pool to free up space for the new extension.
The main spaces are naturally ventilated. We undertook building physics modelling to refine the design and ensure comfortable conditions all year round without summer overheating. A large roof mounted PV array helps to reduce CO2 emissions to meet planning requirements and ensure low running costs.
