This 1,400-seat capacity new performing arts centre scheme acts as the hub for the College’s new Cultural Quarter and will extend and complements the existing facilities, which comprise of a dance studio, black box recording studio and practice studios.

The building is situated within dense forest on the Wellington College campus in Crowthorne, with large, full-height timber cladding to create the illusion of blending into and connecting with the surroundings.

Between the existing theatre and the new auditorium is a ‘Cultural Living Room’ (CLR) space, allowing views to the surrounding forest and providing an additional, flexible performance and exhibition space. Studio Seilern Architects were shortlisted for the Architizer A+ Awards in the ‘Unbuilt Institutional’ category for this project.
