Pydar Street Plot D, Truro
As part of the Pydar Street city centre redevelopment of Truro, Falmouth University are establishing a new site for their Film, Sound and Digital Games department at “The Hive”.
The Hive will look to form a link between the university and wider industry and act as hub to students, industry, start-ups and research.
Above the Hive will be 198 bed cluster based student accommodation to provide on campus accommodation for first year students. Both the Hive and associated student accommodation will be heated via a low carbon communal ground source heat pump. The building will be well insulated, and a lifecycle carbon assessment will be undertaken with targets set to minimise the embodied carbon.
The site will target BREEAM excellent and will look to meet the councils targets of being net zero by 2030.
