The £12m Environment and Sustainability Institute is a state of the art interdisciplinary research facility for the University of Exeter at the Combined Universities in Cornwall campus in Falmouth.
The building includes controlled temperature rooms for insect and plant husbandry, biochemistry and radioactive research laboratories, computer simulation suites and engineering workshops. Despite the heavy servicing requirements and energy-intensive demands placed on the building, the building has achieved a BREEAM Outstanding rating.
In addition to fulfilling the role of mechanical and electrical engineers to the project, we worked closely with the design team to provide an advanced level of BREEAM AP advice and undertook the Design Stage and Post Construction assessments.
This prestigious project was shortlisted for the BREEAM 2015 awards under the Mixed Use and Other Buildings category.
