M&E, BIM, BREEAM, Energy Modelling and Renewable & Low-Carbon Technology
EPIC is a 3,000m² state of the art centre of excellence for innovation in microelectronics and photonics located in Paignton, Devon.
Home to innovative hi-tech start up businesses, the multi storey building provides office and laboratory spaces and a ISCO Class 7 cleanroom.
Low or Zero Carbon technologies were included to achieve a 20% reduction in CO2 emissions. Rainwater harvesting was assessed to reduce potable water use, and a green roof was considered with the intention of enhancing biodiversity.
Due to the building having exposed soffits in most locations, a truly collaborative approach was needed. The client also wished to view and visit their asset digitally prior to construction to ensure that every need of future users of the facility had been catered for.
We were appointed from project inception through to developed design for M&E design services and BREEAM advice and assessment services.
