This BREEAM Very Good new build Advance Construction Skills centre based at South Bristol Skills Academy has been designed to meet sector skills needs, as well as widening participation and access to state-of-the-art construction facilities.
The scheme includes a 2,800m2 new construction centre, alongside the 750m2 refurbishment of an existing building, a construction yard as well as parking and cycle space and will be home to a mixture of construction related teaching from bricklaying to carpentry as well as a new motor vehicle workshop space. In addition to regular teaching space it will offer an outdoor excavator dig zone and mock construction site so students can get a more realistic post college experience.
When completed the state-of-the-art centre will deliver apprenticeships and training courses in trades like wood, brick and plaster.
