Chiltern Academy, Luton
Chiltern Academy is a new ESFA, 8-form entry secondary Academy sponsored by Chiltern Learning Trust and is intended to meet rising local education demand.
The challenging site is close to Luton Airport, beneath its flight path and with a trunk sewer and HV electricity cables running across the site. We also developed a mechanical ventilation solution which meets the ESFA FOS requirements whilst keeping the windows closed, and without requiring mechanical cooling, except in IT-intensive spaces. It includes a Multi-Use Games Area – a football pitch and large car park. Our sustainability team set the BREEAM strategy to establish a route to Very Good rating.
