Castle House Nursing Home, Somerset
This new extension to an existing independent nursing home in Keinton Mandeville, Somerset provides 19 new en-suite bedrooms, staff areas and a new lounge as well as the refurbishment of the existing kitchen and a new car park.
The new extension is heated with underfloor heating throughout to avoid bulky radiators and to provide comfortable conditions for residents. The lighting scheme uses LED wall and ceiling lights to ensure a domestic and homely feel but with low running costs and reduced maintenance. Water for flushing WCs and for irrigation is provided from a rainwater harvesting system with top-up from a borehole on site – this reduces water bills and helps to keep running costs low.
