United World Colleges of the Atlantic is a residential sixth form located at the 12th century St Donat’s castle near Llantwit Major, overlooking the Bristol channel on the south coast of Wales.
This project included the refurbishment of the Grade I Listed library, the Grade I Listed Great Hall and the conversion of the Grade II listed Cavalry Barracks into student residential accommodation.
Given the great historical importance attached to the site great care was required in all restoration and modification works to ensure that the conversion was sympathetic. We worked closely with the architect and the local conservation officer to ensure all refurbishment works were in-line with the heritage and conservation guidelines.
We were subsequently then appointed to develop the M&E strategy for the development of a new Net Zero Carbon education hub at the College.
