SAP4 is a student residential development comprising 1 block with 330 student bedrooms over 9 floors, with extensive communal facilities.
The development is targeting BREEAM ‘Excellent’ as a minimum and will be Net Zero carbon in operation avoiding the use of any gas heating.
To comply with onerous overheating requirements and increase building efficiency, hot water will be generated using local instantaneous electric heaters. A combination of mechanical ventilation and heat recovery (MVHR) and heat pump technology will be utilised to reduce operational energy usage.
A solar array will be located on the roof to generate electricity for the building on site and reduce energy costs.
Due to its location approximately a 5-minute walk from UWE’s Frenchay Campus Secure, sustainable travel will be encouraged. There will be some limited parking for diasbled users and staff but cycle parking for
over 145 bicycles, and electric vehicle and E-bike charging will be provided.
