Wellington College Performing Arts Centre

Client: Wellington College

Architect: Studio Seilern

BREEAM: Very Good

A prestigious new £12m 3400m² performing arts centre scheme has been developed by Studio Seilern Architects. This 1,098-seat circular auditorium capacity will be next to the existing Christopher Lee Theatre with facilities including a dance studio, black box, recording studio and practice studios. Built by Beard Construction, the building is situated in dense woodland on the Wellington College campus in Crowthorne, with large full-height timber cladding to blend in with the surroundings. Between the existing and the new auditorium will be a ‘cultural living room’, designed to allow students to enjoy views to the surrounding landscape. Having already been involved in several projects at Wellington College, we were very pleased to be part of this award-winning scheme.
