Client: Prince's Regeneration Trust
Architect: Feilden Clegg Bradley
BREEAM: Very Good
Following a £9m restoration by The Prince’s Regeneration Trust, Grade II* listed Middleport Pottery is now a visitor centre and working pottery in Burslem, in the heart of the Potteries. We provided BREEAM consultancy service and the challenges of a listed building refurbishment meant that the project team focused on areas such as materials retention and ecology enhancements, with energy metering of tenanted units allowing the occupants to monitor their energy usage. The building has no mechanical cooling and space heating is via a low NOx gas boiler.
Awards: RIBA National Award 2015, RIBA West Midlands Award 2015, RIBA West Midlands Conservation Project Of The Year and RIBA West Midlands Building Of The Year 2015.
