Method Consulting was appointed by Lincoln College, part of the University of Oxford, to this £10m project which involves a complex internal refurbishment and extension to a group of buildings in the centre of the city. It includes parts of a Grade II* listed coaching inn which dates from the 11th Century. The project’s construction cost is approximately £10m. Method Consulting is providing building services engineering and has managed specialist fire and acoustic sub-consultants.

Some key services included: options’ appraisal for different architectural schemes, including complicated fire escape route design, sympathetic design of new centralised gas fired plant to replace electric heating and reduce carbon emissions, and thermal modelling of the rooms to confirm that a natural ventilation strategy can still achieve comfortable summer conditions.
