Gatwick Diamond Masterplan
Client: Surrey County Council
Architect: HGP Architects
We have been appointed by the main contractor, Willmott Dixon, to provide BREEAM advice and assessment services for the Phase 1 development of the Former Thales site in Crawley.
At this stage, the building consists of offices, though the site will ultimately include office buildings and retail units. The site is considered contaminated, so the Environment Agency has recommended that special consideration is given to its drainage, to minimise the risk of watercourse pollution. The site has good transport accessibility and the building will include the provision of cycle storage and cyclist facilities. A sustainable Travel Plan was developed in the early stages of the design to identify measures that could be included to encourage the use of sustainable transport.
Consideration is also being given to the functional adaptability of the building for future uses and refurbishment by architect HGP Architects.
An interim BREEAM rating of Very Good has been achieved.
