Aston University Framework

Client: Aston University

Architect: Rowbothams

We were appointed to the Aston Uni Professional Services framework in 2014 and to date, we have been awarded four refurbishment projects.

The £1.5m refurbishment of the School of Life and Health Sciences created new academic offices from existing laboratories, seminar rooms and storage areas. The School has an outstanding reputation for teaching and research and the facility includes well-equipped laboratories which provide high-quality teaching and research facilities.

The project involved the investigation of lower energy options than the University’s standard specification, with the intention of reducing energy consumption. These included higher efficiency ventilation fans and the use of heat exchangers for heat recovery ventilation. We acted as M&E consultants to the project where our role included implementation of key recommendations of the BSRIA Soft Landings approach and Post-Occupancy Evaluation.

Other projects included the main building level 2 and main building level 4, to provide new academic and postgraduate offices, lecture theatres and seminar rooms, all whilst the existing building was in operation.
