31 Great George Street

Client: University of Bristol

Architect: Oxford Architects

The university had leased three floors of recently refurbished office space (about 3,000m²) and the landlord had completed a Category A fit-out. We worked with the architects and project managers to design the extensive Category B fit-out works through to tender. As with many university projects, there were several stakeholders and we had to work closely with the university’s project officer and the stakeholders to agree the scope of works and the design proposals.

The landlord’s installed ventilation and cooling system did not meet the needs of high density occupancy and thus we had to design a scheme to modify and add to their system, whilst safeguarding the university’s interests. We also worked closely with the IT department to agree the scope of works for IT and electrical distribution to the desks, with cabling integrated and coordinated with the furniture. We remained as client advisor during the works on site and during commissioning to see the project through to completion.
